We currently offer 2 programs:

1. The 6-Week Standard Program for dogs 20+ weeks of age covering leash manners, foundational obedience, e-collar introduction, recall, generalization, and off-leash freedom.

2. The 12-Week Puppy Program for puppies under 20 weeks, focused on building a confident, social, and well-mannered foundation from the very beginning.

Each week of the curriculum unlocks after you have completed the previous week and allowed 7 days to pass. This is intentional — you and your dog need time to practice and absorb each week's lessons before moving on. Rushing through a training program is one of the most common reasons people don't get lasting long-term results.

Download the app, create your account, and complete the onboarding questionnaire. We ask about your dog's age, breed, personality, behavior challenges, and your lifestyle so we can recommend the right program and personalize your experience. The whole process takes about five minutes and your first lesson is ready immediately after.

Just basic information about your dog — their name, age, breed, gender, and any behaviors you want to work on. You will also choose your preferred daily training time so the app can build a routine that fits your schedule.

Yes! Guiding Paw supports multiple dogs and you can create individual profiles for each one. Each dog gets their own training program, progress tracking, and health records so nothing gets mixed up.

The Daily Routine Builder lives on your dashboard and helps you build a consistent daily schedule for your dog including walks, training sessions, engagement games, and enrichment activities. You can check off each item as you complete it so nothing gets skipped.

The Live section covers your dog's daily lifestyle and wellness. It includes a GPS exercise tracker for walks, a grooming schedule, meal logging, and other daily care tools that help you stay on top of everything beyond just training.

The Bond section is dedicated to strengthening the trust and relationship between you and your dog. It includes engagement games, enrichment activities, socialization challenges, and confidence-building exercises that go beyond basic obedience and deepen the connection and trust between you and your dog.

The Learn section is the heart of Guiding Paw. It is where your structured, week-by-week training curriculum lives — built by professional dog trainers and designed to take you and your dog from the basics all the way to real-world off-leash reliability.

Depending on your dog's age you will follow one of two programs. The 6-Week Standard Program is designed for dogs over 20 weeks of age, covering everything from foundation skills and leash manners to e-collar introduction, recall, and off-leash freedom. The 12-Week Puppy Program is designed for puppies under 20 weeks and takes an age-appropriate approach to building the habits and confidence that will last a lifetime.

No! The e-collar is not required. Our program works just as well using leash pressure only, and we'll tailor the training approach to whatever tool you're most comfortable with.

That said, if you do want to use an e-collar, we recommend the E-Collar Technologies ET300 Mini Educator or Micro Educator. What makes these particular collars a good fit is the 0–100 stimulation range, which lets us dial in a level so precise your dog barely notices it — just enough to communicate, never enough to hurt.

Think of the e-collar as an invisible leash. Once your dog understands it, this becomes the tool that makes real off-leash freedom possible — the same reliable communication you'd have through a leash in hand, just without the leash. That's what opens up hikes, parks, and everyday life without your dog tethered to you.

It's important to understand what the e-collar actually is in our program: a communication tool, not a punishment tool. We never use it to force or scare a dog into compliance. Our entire training philosophy is built on communication, trust, and relationship-building between you and your dog — the e-collar, when used correctly, simply becomes one more clear way to talk to your dog, the same way a leash cue or a verbal marker is.

Yes! Guiding Paw includes a health records section where you can upload vaccine records, vet visit documents, and other important files directly to your dog's profile so everything is stored in one place.

Yes! Your dashboard shows your current training streak, overall program progress, completed lessons, and which week of the curriculum you are on. Staying consistent is easier when you can see how far you have come.

Yes! Guiding Paw uses industry-standard encryption to protect all personal information and payment data. We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties.

Yes! There are no contracts and no cancellation fees. You can cancel your subscription at any time directly through the app or your app store account.

Yes! Cat training programs are planned for a future Guiding Paw update. At launch, Guiding Paw training programs are designed specifically for dogs, including puppies and adult dogs of all ages.
